Ward Activity

The activities committee invites you to Bunco Night on Saturday, March 6 from 6-8 PM in the cultural hall. Please, bring your whole family to party with the ward, learn a new game and eat tasty goodies.

Bunco is a super fun dice-rolling game that, according to Wikipedia, involves "100% luck and no skill." Here's how it works:
  • Take your place at one of the bunco tables
  • Roll three dice to try to hit a "target number"
  • Get a "bunco" if you get three-of-a-kind of the "target number" for even more points
  • Win a sweet prize!

Relief Society Craft

Amanda: We had such a fun craft night on Thursday night. I had finished my finals earlier that day and was so excited to do something fun. I was kind of nervous at first because I'm not the most crafty person out there but Carissa made it so easy, I made the jingle bell wreath. She showed us all step by step what we were doing and it was so simple. The bow was the worst part, Carissa made it look easy but it took us all a few tries to get
it just right. We had yummy treats, great company and cute crafts. I came home and put my wreath right on the inside of my front door. Hope to see everyone come out to the next party. Merry Christmas everyone!

Shepherd's Pie (the good kind)
2 cups hamburger, cooked and seasoned (I cook mine with about 1/2 an onion per lb of meat)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can green beans, drained
mashed potatoes (I used 1 package Idahoan instant garlic mashed potatoes)
pepper
paprika
shredded cheddar cheese

I poured the hamburger in a glass pie sized dish (pyrex one) then mixed in the cream of mushroom soup and green beans. Then I sprinkled some pepper on top and then added the mashed potatoes on top of the mixture. I then sprinkled the cheddar cheese and paprika. Cook at 350* for 20-25 minutes. DELICIOUS
Tyler doesn' even like shepherd's pie and he LOVED this:)

I combined it with a loaf of HOT Homemade bread:) yum

Bishop's Challenge

As you remember from sacrament meeting on Sunday, bishop issued us the challenge that we not go grocery shopping all week...this came as a complete surprise for us because we haven't lived in our apartment for like a month; first we were in Sandy for two weeks and then St. George, needless to say we aren't stocked as usual with food. However, both Ty and I felt like we should think of this as an EXTRA CHALLENGE so we are going to try and go the week without going to the grocery store. (we did thankfully purchase milk on saturday, but that is the only fresh food we have besides some leftover fruit from the enrichment activity).

I thought we, as a relief society, could bond together and make it through this--some will do it no problem I am sure--so comment away on what you and your spouse are doing to get through this week! I am going to post what I cook each day and if anyone else would like to as well, send me an email and I'll hook you up:)

Monday, November 9, 2009:
Dinner--
Chicken Tortilla Soup
1 can corn
1 can white corn
1 can black beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can chicken broth
1 pint salsa
1/2 pkg ranch dressing mix
1/2 pkg taco mix
4-6 chicken breasts cooked and shredded

I cook mine in the crockpot and let it simmer for a couple hours. (1 hour at the very least). Can you believe I had all those things in my cupboard? Me either...here is our dessert:

My favorite Danish with cream cheese frosting:)  The secret recipe I will NOT divulge...sorry. But I will make one for you if you want to try it. The pictures don't give it justice.
